About Us

Bangladesh enjoys an adequate level of solar irradiation, which has led to a steady increase in the adoption of solar energy while costs have been decreasing. To further promote renewable energy, the government has introduced net metering, and published the Net Metering Guidelines in 2018. This approach allows utility customers to produce their own electricity from solar or other renewable sources and export excess energy back to the grid.To date, 2190 net metering rooftop solar systems have been installed with a total capacity of 100 MWp. To further scale-up the rooftop solar programme under net metering, Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) initiated the National Solar Help Desk in 2021.

Initial establishment of NSHD was supported by GIZ Bangladesh through German Development Cooperation. NSHD’s role is to support the proliferation of Rooftop Solar under Net Metering. NSHD offers services to consumers, investors and stakeholders of rooftop solar projects as a one stop service desk.
